        Product Information

        General Information:
        AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Diclofenac Sodium Injection.

        Diclofenac injections are a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used for analgesia to treat mild to severe acute pain alone or in combination with other analgesics. It can be used to treat pain related to kidney stones, joints, gout, or injuries. Each mL in the ampoule contains 25 mg of diclofenac sodium. It is given into the muscle or vein as an infusion. Diclofenac sodium works by blocking the body’s chemicals responsible for causing pain, swelling, and inflammation.

        Side Effects:
        As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of diclofenac sodium injection. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.

        Common side effects include, but may not be limited to nausea, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, weight loss, confusion, sensitivity to the sun, diarrhea, tingling, and poor appetite. Seek medical attention if the following develop: allergic reaction, hives, itching, ulcers, blood disorders, gastritis, mood swings, or pancreatitis.

        For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult your doctor.

        If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please call your doctor immediately.

        Additional Information

        Always consult your doctor or pharmacist before injecting diclofenac sodium.

        If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call your doctor.

        Indications and Usage

        Diclofenac sodium is indicated in the management of mild to moderate pain. It can be also used to treat moderate to severe pain alone or in combination with opioid analgesics.

        Precautions

        Do not take diclofenac sodium injections if:

        • You are allergic to diclofenac sodium or other NSAIDs;
        • You have had an ulcer or bleeding in the digestive tract;
        • You have asthma, kidney problems, or liver problems;
        • You are treating pain during coronary artery bypass graft surgery.

        Use of diclofenac sodium during the 1st and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy or breastfeeding has been linked with adverse reactions. Low concentrations of diclofenac sodium are excreted in breast milk, so it should be used with caution when administered to a woman who is breastfeeding.

        Driving or operating machinery should be avoided as it can cause dizziness or drowsiness. Do not operate machinery until you know how the drug affects you.

        Consult your doctor or health care professional before administering diclofenac sodium.

        Administration and Dosage

        Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. The usual dosage for pain in adults is typically 37.5mg IV every 6 hours as needed. The maximum dose should not exceed 150mg per day. It is not recommended for pediatric use because safety and efficacy have not been established.

        Interactions

        Diclofenac sodium can have many possible interactions with other drugs, such as warfarin, NSAIDs, and diabetes medications.

        Consult with your doctor about medications you are taking or existing medical conditions you have before your treatment with diclofenac sodium.

        Overdose

        Symptoms of overdose include trouble breathing and passing out. Other symptoms of overdose may include severe stomach ache, vomiting, and nausea. These symptoms have to be reported to the medical health professional. Seek medical help urgently.

        Adverse Reactions

        Treatment with NSAIDs can cause serious adverse cardiovascular and GI effects. Diclofenac sodium should be used in caution with patients with bowel disorders, lupus, kidney problems, heart problems, liver problems, elderly age, or porphyria.
