Product Information

AdvaCare is a CE, ISO and USFDA manufacturer of Disposable Bed Sheets.

The primary function of Disposable Bed Sheets is to temporarily place them over a surface to prevent it becoming contamination in the event of a potentially contaminated or hazardous material making contact with it. The sheet provides a physical barrier which stops this from occurring.

It works as a protective barrier, physically stopping contaminated or infectious material from being transferred to the surface. If the sheet was not present, and the surface made contact with a contaminant, the next person or object that makes contact with the surface will also be at risk. Therefore, Disposable Bed Sheets also prevent transmission of infections between people.

Disposable Bed Sheets are liquid and chemical resistant.

Sheets are designed for one time use, to avoid transmitting contaminated material. They are easily disposed of to facilitate this purpose.

Sheets can be used in other industries besides medical. Beauty salons and hotels make use of them in order to reduce laundry costs and protect surfaces.

Bodily fluids which could contain infectious microbes or contaminants that bed sheets protect against include blood, excrement, bodily fluids and spillage of certain chemicals.

Sheets are large and have multiple layers for maximum protection and resistance. Polypropylene is used in all sheets to deter any water that breaches the first layer. Pulped fluff layer is cocooned within the polyethylene and polypropylene to further add to absorbency.

Sheets are relatively inexpensive, making them accessible to a large market including developing countries.

Sheets are available in three models: EconoDry, XtraDry and UltraDry. They will be explored in further detail below.

Sheet selection should be made based on the specific protection requirements. This includes the anticipated contaminants that the surface will be exposed to, in order to gain an idea of what material is required.

Usage

Correct size of sheet must be used in accordance with the size of the surface to be protected. If the sheet is too small and only partially covers the surface, the exposed parts of the surface are then susceptible to contamination.

The sheet is laid over the surface to be protected, ensuring it is spread out evenly, free of creases. Ensure all parts of the surface are covered and protected. After use, make sure the sheet is disposed of correctly to avoid transmitting contaminated material.

It is imperative that the disposable bed sheet is not used if the packaging or seal is compromised. Evidence of this may suggest tampering or loss of sterility. If one should come across sheets inside comprised packaging, the correct course of action is to dispose of it quickly and safely.

Precautions

  • It is of utmost importance that disposable sheets are not reused. Once used, the device is not fit to be salvaged for further used, as sterilization cannot be retained. Re-using sheets can result in infections being transmitted between surfaces and the individuals who many come into contact with them;
  • Must prepare the sheet for use in a clean, sterile environment, absent of bodily fluids or other sources of contamination;
  • Promptly and safely dispose of any sheets that have touched a potentially contaminated surface;
  • Correct material must be selected according to situation – if the surface to be protected is likely to be exposed to high volumes of liquid, a sheet that is high in absorbency, such as the UltraDry sheet, should be selected;
  • Care must be taken when selecting the correct sheet size – A sheet that covers the entirety of the surface is crucial to protect the whole surface and not leave any parts vulnerable to contamination.

Materials

Disposable bed sheets are manufactured using a variety of materials. The materials used in the range offered by AdvaCare are polypropylene, fluff pulp and polyethylene sheets.
