Scopolamine Butylbromide Injections are an anti-choline and anti-muscarine medicine. It is a quaternary ammonium compound and a semisynthetic derivative of scopolamine.
It is different from normal analgesic because it works by obstructing the peripheral receptors of choline and preventing the painful cramps and spasms from occurring in the first place.
This kind of medicine is used as an abdominal-specific antispasmodic to relieve the pain and discomfort caused by abdominal cramps and menstrual cramps.
It is also used to prevent bladder spasms and other spasmodic activity in the digestive system.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Scopolamine butylbromide. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.
Common side effects include, but may not be limited to pain, swelling, or soreness at the injection site, drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, difficulty passing water. Seek medical attention if the following develop: fever, nausea, vomiting, changes in bowel movement, fainting or blood in feces.

Do NOT use Scopolamine Butylbromid if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients;
- You suffer from myasthenia gravis;
- You suffer from megacolon;
- You suffer from blockage of stomach or bowel;
- You suffer from an inactive or paralyzed bowel;
- You have tachycardia;
- You are a man who has an enlarged prostate with urinary retention;
- You suffer from an eye problem called angle- closure glaucoma;
- Are an elderly patient.
There is little evidence with regards to the use of Scopolamine Butylbromide Injections during pregnancy or breast feeding, and so consult your doctor or health care professional before taking Scopolamine Butylbromide.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: depending on condition and severity 20-40 milligrams. Do not give this to a child under the age of 6.
Scopolamine Butylbromide may interact with malaria medicine, antihistamines, antidepressants and antipsychotics, medicine for Parkinson’s and any other medicine for the treatment of stomach or bowel condition. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with Scopolamine Butylbromide.
