        Product Information

        General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of furosemide injection.

Furosemide injection is a diuretic that treats fluid retention. It is indicated for treating edema that is typically associated with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, kidney disease, and renal disease. Furosemide injection is used to get rid of extra water by acting on the kidneys to increase urination.

As one of the essential medicines needed in a basic health system, furosemide injection is the primary treatment for edema caused by congestive heart failure. This drug is given by injection into the vein or muscle by a health professional in a hospital or clinic setting. When given intravenously, effects are seen within five minutes.

        Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of furosemide injection. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.

Common side effects include, but may not be limited to constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, vomiting, nausea, and headache. Seek medical attention if the following develop: allergic reaction, itching hives, fever, sore throat, loss of hearing, fainting, trouble urinating, pancreatitis, stomach pain, dark urine, breathing problems, confusion, or mood swings.

For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult your doctor.

If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please call your doctor immediately.

        Additional Information

Always consult your doctor or pharmacist before administering furosemide injection.

If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call your doctor.

Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how furosemide injection affects you.

Do NOT use administer furosemide injection if:

        • You are allergic to furosemide or any other containing ingredients;
        • You have anuria.

Use of furosemide injection during pregnancy shows low risk and can be used to treat heart failure in pregnant women. Though, furosemide injection should be used with caution in nursing mothers. Consult your doctor or health care professional before administering furosemide.

Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Furosemide injection is injected when oral furosemide is not possible or in emergency situations. The usual dose for adults is 20 to 40mg IV or IM. Usually, the dose for children is 0.5 to 1mg/kg IV or IM. Furosemide injection should be used with caution in elderly patients.

Furosemide injection should not be given in large doses rapidly and in renal impairment due to ototoxic effects. It can also lead to gout and hyperglycemia.

Too much furosemide injection can cause severe diuresis with water and electrolyte depletion. Furosemide injection can interact with other medications, such as chloral hydrate, ethacrynic acid, and lithium. There are potential hazardous interactions due to increased risk of toxicity and side effects. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking and medical conditions you have before your treatment with furosemide injection.
