General Information:
Quinine Dihydrochloride Injection is an antimalarial, analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory medicine. Its active ingredient has been manufactured and used for the treatment of malaria and associated febrile states, leg cramps caused by vascular spasm, internal hemorrhoids, varicose veins, and pleural cavities after thoracoplasty. Quinine Dihydrochloride Injection (DHL) is used parenterally for cerebral, severe or complicated malaria, or when vomiting prevents retention of an orally administrated drug.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Quinine Dihydrochloride Injection. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Seek medical attention if the following develop: cinchonism, hypoglycemia, serious hematologic disorders, urticarial, contact dermatitis, and other hypersensitivity reactions.

Do NOT use quinine DHL injection if:
- You are taking Rifamycins and you smoke.
- You are taking Cimetidine and Ketoconazole.
- You have neuromuscular illness.
Use of Quinine Dihydrochloride Injection during pregnancy or breast feeding is to be avoided. Consult your doctor or health care professional before having quinine injections.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: 20mg quinine per kg. Usual does for children is: 25 to 30 mg per kg body-mass daily.
Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with quinine injections.
