Multimineral Premix is a feed additive formulated to help prevent or treat mineral deficiencies in livestock animals such as camels, cows, sheep, pigs, and poultry. Symptoms of mineral deficiencies may show up as rough, harsh coat, flaky skin, eating dirt, poor growth, recurring disease, fence chewing, debarking trees, unhealthy skin, tooth decay, and much more.

This premix is composed of essential macrominerals (including calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chlorine, and sulfur), trace elements (including iron, copper, manganese, zinc, iodine, selenium, chromium, cobalt, and cobalamin), and from other trace elements (such as fluorine, molybdenum, silicon, boron, nickel, and tin).

In animals, minerals function as structural components of organs and tissues, as cofactors or activators in enzyme and hormone systems, as constituents of body fluids and tissues (where they maintain osmotic pressure, acid-base balance, membrane permeability, and tissue irritability), and as regulators of cell replication and differentiation.

If tissues and foods are burned, the mineral content is the fraction that remains; it is termed ash. The inorganic elements in ash exist principally as oxides, carbonates, and sulfates, so the percentage of total ash is higher than the sum of the individually determined inorganic elements. Some of the elements in ash are essential nutrients, but few definitive studies have been conducted in nonhuman primates to determine quantitative requirements.
