Product Information
General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Colistin Sulfate premix.
Colistin Sulfate premix is a colistin antibiotic that treats gram-negative bacteria such as E.coli and Salmonella spp. Colistin sulfate binds to lipids on the membrane of the gram-negative bacteria to disrupt the cell wall structure. Colistin sulfate infuses cell membranes and is used to study antibiotic resistance in certain organisms.
Misapplication of Colistin Sulfate premix can cause an increase in the bacteria resistant to colistin sulfate and decrease the effectiveness of treating with polymyxins. Mixing of colistin sulfate with other products is not advisable. Colistin sulfate can decrease the presence of calcium ions so avoid mixing with solutions that contain calcium. There are rare cases of neurological accidents; digestive or local irritation issues are rarely a serious issue.
Side Effects:
As with all veterinary medicine, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Colistin Sulfate. Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist for medical advice before use.
Side effects include but are not limited to nephrological and neurological accidents, digestive symptoms, local irritation, allergic reaction.
For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult a veterinary physician.
Persistence or worsening with similar symptoms will require for an immediate veterinary treatment.
