        Product Information

        General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Activated Charcoal boluses.

Activated charcoal benefits include being a detoxification absorbent that comes in bolus and powder form. It is one of the most useful natural remedies for livestock during emergencies, for vaccine reactions, snake bites, and for the gastrointestinal tract. Other activated charcoal benefits include being able to treat Parvo, poisoning, and overdosage.

Once administered, activated charcoal boluses will pass through your animal’s body and start absorbing toxins, therefore having a detoxification effect.

It is important to note that AdvaCare’s activated charcoal boluses are for veterinary purposes only, and you should only use the form that has been prescribed by a veterinary doctor or animal care specialist for an animal.

        Side Effects:
As with all veterinary medicine, some unwanted activated charcoal effects can occur. Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist for medical advice before use.

The main activated charcoal side effects are aspiration and vomiting. Activated charcoal boluses have  also been associated with increased sodium blood levels in smaller animals.

For a comprehensive list of all possible effects of activated charcoal boluses , consult a veterinary physician.

If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please seek veterinary medical treatment immediately.

        Additional Information

Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist before using activated charcoal boluses. If the condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call a veterinary physician or animal care specialist.

Refer to an animal care specialist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise, and complete the full treatment, as stopping early can result in a recurrence or worsen the problem. Usual dosage is as follows:

Below 5 pounds: about 1/4 tablet.
        5 – 12 pounds: about 1/2 tablet.
        12 – 25 pounds: about 1 tablet.
        25 – 50 pounds: about 2 tablets.
        50 – 100 pounds: about 3 tablets.
        100 – 150 pounds: about 4 tablets.
Over 150 pounds: about 8 tablets.

Consult with an animal care specialist about any other medications that are being taken by the animal, and their medical history, before their treatment with activated charcoal boluses.
