        Product Information

        General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Albendazole Boluses.

Albendazole is a veteran anthelmintic (wormer) compound belonging to the chemical class of the benzimidazoles. Albendazole is one of the generic anthelmintics most used on livestock worldwide.

As a synthetic anthelmintic, albendazole bolus belongs to a group of benzimidazole derivatives that help to fight against a broad range of worms and even adult stages of liver fluke. It works by causing degenerative alterations in the intestinal cells.

Albendazole is effective against gastrointestinal roundworms and lungworms of livestock, including adults and L4-larvae of the most important species (e.g. of the genus Bunostomum, Haemonchus, Ostertagia – Teladorsagia, Trichostrongylus, Cooperia, Nematodirus, Chabertia, Oesophagostomum, Trichuris, Dictyocaulus, etc.) as well as arrested larvae of several species. It is also effective against most livestock tapeworms (e.g. Moniezia, Taenia) and against adult liver flukes (Fasciola hepatica and Fascioloides magna), but not against immature stages.

Albendazole has no efficacy against external parasites.

It is important to note that AdvaCare’s albendazole boluses are for veterinary purposes only. There are types available for human use, however, you should only use the kind that has been prescribed by a veterinary doctor or animal care specialist for an animal.

        Side Effects:
As with all veterinary medicine, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of albendazole boluses. Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist for medical advice before use.

The main side effect of albendazole boluses is hypersensitivity reactions. For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult a veterinary physician.

If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please seek veterinary medical treatment immediately.

        Additional Information

Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist before using albendazole boluses. If the condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call a veterinary physician or animal care specialist.

Refer to an animal care specialist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise, and complete the full treatment, as stopping early can result in a recurrence or worsen the problem. The usual dosage is as follows:

1 bolus/60 kg body weight for calves and cattle
1 bolus/35 kg body weight for liver fluke
1 bolus/35 kg body weight for sheep and goats

Consult with an animal care specialist about any other medications that are being taken by the animal, and their medical history, before their treatment with albendazole boluses.
