General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Vitamin K 1 injection.
Vitamin K 1 injection (scientific name Phylloquinone) is used to prevent and treat vitamin deficiencies.
It is also used for the treatment of blood coagulation disorders by allowing blood to thicken and stop bleeding since it is used by the body for protein modification needed for blood coagulation.
Vitamin K 1 injection is used during prophylaxis and therapy of hemorrhagic disease of newborns, and hypoprothrombinemia.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of vitamin K 1 injection. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.
Common side effects of vitamin k 1 injection include, but may not be limited to flushing sensations; pain, swelling, or tenderness at the injection site; “peculiar” taste sensations. Seek medical attention if the following develop: severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); blue tinge to the skin, fingernails, or toenails; fast or weak pulse; severe dizziness; shortness of breath; skin lesions; yellowing of the skin or eyes in newborn children. Do NOT use Vitamin K 1 injection if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Vitamin K 1 injection.
There is little evidence with regards to the use of vitamin K 1 injection during pregnancy or breast feeding, so consult your doctor or health care professional before taking vitamin K1 injection.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: A dosage of 2.5 to 25mg or more (rarely up to 50mg) is recommended, the amount and route of administration depending upon the severity of the condition and response obtained. If possible, discontinuation or reduction of the dosage of drugs interfering with coagulation mechanisms (such as salicylates; antibiotics) is suggested as an alternative to administering concurrent Vitamin K1 Injection. The severity of the coagulation disorder should determine whether the immediate administration of Vitamin K1 Injection is required in addition to discontinuation or reduction of interfering drugs.
Vitamin K1 might interact with the effectiveness of anticoagulants. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with vitamin K1 injection.
