        Product Information

        General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Lincomycin HCL injection.

Lincomycin HCL Injections are an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections of streptococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci. Lincomycin antibiotics work by killing and stopping the growth of infectious bacteria. To prevent the development of lincomycin-resistant bacteria, lincomycin antibiotics should only be used when the infection is strongly suggested to be caused by bacteria. Because lincomycin can cause Clostridium difficile infection associated diarrhea and severe colitis, lincomycin should be used when other antibiotics cannot be used. This can be due to penicillin allergies or when bacteria developed resistance to other antibiotics.

Lincomycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that is produced by Streptomyces lincolnensis. This injection is typically given by a health professional into the muscle or vein in a hospital or clinic setting.

        Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of lincomycin antibiotics. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.

Common side effects of lincomycin antibiotics include, but may not be limited to diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, swelling near the injection site, or dizziness. Seek medical attention if the following develop: allergies, itching, hives, urination problems, trouble hearing, mouth irritation, severe skin reactions, or severe diarrhea.

For a comprehensive list of all possible effects of lincomycin antibiotics, consult your doctor.

If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please call your doctor immediately.

        Additional Information

Always consult your doctor or pharmacist before administering lincomycin antibiotics.

If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call your doctor.

Use of lincomycin antibiotics may cause dizziness, so avoid driving or operating machinery until you know the medication affects you.

Do NOT use lincomycin hcl injection if:

        • You are allergic to lincomycin, clindamycin, or other containing ingredients;
        • You are breastfeeding.

There is not enough evidence that shows the effects of lincomycin during pregnancy. Though, lincomycin is excreted into breast milk and nursing mothers should not breastfeed while using this medication. Lincomycin contains benzyl alcohol and can harm newborn babies. Consult your doctor or health care professional before administering lincomycin.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: 600mg IM every day or 600mg – 1g IV every 8-12 hours. Usual does for children is: 10mg/kg IM every day or 10 to 20mg/kg/day IV divided every 8-12 hours.
Due to reports of clostridium difficile infection associated with diarrhea, tell your doctor immediately if you notice diarrhea or any unusual side effects. If suspected, stop using lincomycin and contact your doctor immediately.
Inform your doctor if you have asthma, allergies, stomach problems, liver disease, or kidney disease. Lincomycin can interact with medications, including erythromycin, kanamycin, phenytoin, and muscle-relaxing medications. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking or health conditions you have before your treatment with lincomycin hcl injection.
