        Product Information

        General Information:
        AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Lidocaine Hydrochloride Injection.

        Lidocaine injection is a local anesthetic used to numb an area of the body to reduce pain and discomfort before surgery or an invasive medical procedure. It is also given in an epidural (spinal block) to reduce the discomfort of contractions during labor and to treat cardiac arrhythmias. Lidocaine injection works by blocking the nerve signals in the body.

        Lidocaine injection is also known as xylocaine and lignocaine. As an essential medication, lidocaine is an important numbing medication. A lidocaine injection starts to work within 4 minutes, and effects last for thirty minutes to three hours.

        Lidocaine injection is available in 1% and 2% concentrations. It is administered by injection into the vein by a healthcare professional in a hospital or clinical setting.

        Side Effects:
        As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of lidocaine. Always consult a doctor or healthcare professional for medical advice before use.

        Common side effects include swelling near the injection site, dizziness, and nausea. Seek medical attention if the following develop: anxiety, restlessness, depression, drowsiness, blurred vision, seizure, and twitching, abnormal heartbeat, breathing problems, fainting, or vomiting.

        For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult your doctor. If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom not listed, call your doctor immediately.

        Additional Information

        Always consult a medical doctor or patient care specialist before using lidocaine injection.

        Indications and Usage

        Lidocaine injection is used to numb an area of your body to help reduce pain or discomfort caused by invasive medical procedures such as surgery, needle punctures, or insertion of a catheter or breathing tube.

        Lidocaine injection is also given in an epidural (spinal block) to reduce the discomfort of contractions during labor. It is sometimes used to treat irregular heart rhythms that may lead to a heart attack.

        Do not take lidocaine injection if:

        • You are allergic to lidocaine or other containing ingredients;
        • You are allergic to other local anesthetics;
        • You are receiving treatment concurrently with class I antiarrhythmic agents (quinine, flecainide, disopyramide, or procainamide);
        • You have Stokes-Adams syndrome, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, or cardiac block without a pacemaker;
        • You have prior use of amiodarone hydrochloride.

        Lidocaine injection for pregnant and nursing mothers are not expected to be harmful to the unborn baby or infant. Consult your doctor or health care professional before using this medication.

        The FDA warns that lidocaine should not be used to relieve tooth pain in teething babies because lidocaine is easily absorbed into the bloodstream and may cause death.

        Administration and Dosage

        Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. The usual dose for adults is 200mg IV slowly over 2 minutes and can be repeated every 4 to 6 hours.

        Lidocaine injection can have many possible interactions with other drugs, such as phenothiazines, depressants, or blood pressure medications. Let your doctor know if you have heart, thyroid, circulation, or blood disorders.

        Consult your doctor about medications you are taking or existing medical conditions you have before you begin treatment with lidocaine.

        Symptoms of overdose include trouble breathing and passing out. These symptoms should be reported to a medical professional. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical help urgently.

        Adverse Reactions

        Some adverse conditions include baldness and dizziness. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking and any health conditions you have before your treatment with lidocaine.
