General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Doxycycline capsules.
Doxycycline capsules are used to treat bacterial pneumonia, acne, certain STDs and tract infections, gum disease and others. It is also useful for the treatment of malaria when used with quinine. This medication is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections, including those that cause acne. This medication is also used to prevent malaria. This medication is known as a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted doxycycline side effects can occur from the use. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Common side effects include, but may not be limited to: diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, headache, rash, sensitivity to the sun and hives. If the symptoms are not severe, they should go away in few days to a couple of weeks. If not, please talk to your doctor, pharmacist or health care specialist about it.
Serious doxycycline side effects include: severe or bloody diarrhea, stomach pain or cramps, fever, dehydration, weight loss, severe headache, blurry or double vision, vision loss, chest burning or pain, anemia. If you get any of these symptoms, call your doctor at once.

If you are taking other medicines, or you think you may need to use an alternative form of doxycycline capsules, always remember to ask your doctor’s opinion first. In these cases it’s useful to keep with you a list of all the drugs you are taking. Talk to him before starting any new cure as well, vitamins and natural products included.
If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call your health care providers. Never use this medicine for a longer period of time than you have been told by your doctor.
Driving or operating machinery is okay, as it does not impair driving skills.
Indications and Usage
Doxycycline is available in the form of capsules and consumed orally.
Always take doxycycline capsules exactly as suggested by your doctor, pharmacist or health care provider. The dose will be set depending on your age, condition, response to the treatment, weight or other medical conditions you have. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Take doxycycline orally with a cup of water, with or without food.
It is also advisable to take it around the same time every day. Drink plenty of liquids while you take this drug. Swallow the pill whole. Take doxycycline for the entire prescribed time and don’t skip doses, it may cause an aggravation of the infection or increase the risk of getting an infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Also note that this medication doesn’t work for viral infections as cold or flu. If you need a surgery, tell your doctor you are taking doxycycline in advance.
Administration and Dosage
Administration and dosage may vary depending on the type of infection you want to cure. Ask your doctor, pharmacist of health care specialist for advice before starting the therapy.
Typical dosage in adults, is 200 mg on the first day split in two every 12 hours, followed by 100 mg every day (if not for more serious infections). In adults the dosage may depend on age and weight. Always ask a consult in advance.
Interactions
If you are taking doxycycline, do not take laxatives, iron or calcium supplements, multivitamins, antacids and herbal products within two hours before or after you take this drug. Do not take other antibiotics as well, if not prescribed by your doctor, they may cause you to have diarrhea which can me a sign of a new infection. If you have bloody or watery diarrhea, call your doctor at once.
Also note that you should avoid tanning while taking doxycycline, it may cause you to sunburn more easily.
Overdose
If you take a larger dose than you should take, tell your doctor, pharmacist or health care specialist promptly even if you don’t feel bad. Bring with you the container and tell them about the amount you took and related timing.
Adverse Reactions and Precautions
Do not use this drug if you are allergic to doxycycline or tetracycline antibiotics like tugecycline, minocycline, tetracycline or demeclocycline. Also if you ever had liver or kidney disease, sulfite or asthma allergy, higher pressure inside your skull, tell your doctor about it before starting taking this drug.
If you are pregnant or planning to be, or you get pregnant while taking doxycycline, ask your doctor’s opinion first. Taking this medicine during pregnancy can cause your baby to have problems with regard to teeth and bones development. Specifically taking it during the second half of pregnancy may determine permanent teeth discoloration later on the baby’s life. If you are breast-feeding, do not take this drug: it can pass into breast milk and affect bones and teeth development in the baby as well. If you are taking birth control pills, you should also consult your doctor in advance. This medicine may cause them to be not as effective, which may turn into pregnancy.
Children should use doxycycline only in life-threating situations, since it may cause permanent yellowing or graying of the teeth if younger than 8 years old. Always ask your doctor, pharmacist or health care specialist if the benefits of taking this medication outweigh the risks.
If you plan to use doxycycline to cure gonorrhea, your doctor should check you to make sure you don’t have other sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis.
If you are using doxycycline to prevent malaria, you may have to start 1 or 2 days before you enter the area where malaria is spread to take this medicine. Keep taking it for the entire duration of the stay in that area and don’t stop till at least 4 weeks after.
