        General Information:
        AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of esomeprazole capsules.

        Esomeprazole belongs to class of drugs known as proton-pump inhibitors. It exacts its effects by inhibiting the action of proton pumps and this effect reduces stomach acid production.

        In conditions like gastroesophageal reflux, acid produced in the stomach is allowed to flow back into the esophagus and this causes burning sensations and pain (heartburn).

        Esomeprazole reduces the production of the stomach acids and this reduction curtails the pathologic-backflow of acids into the esophagus.

        Esomeprazole also treats oesophagitis because preventing acid back-flow into the food pipe gives the lining of the esophagus time and proper environment to heal.

        Suppressing the production of stomach acid also aids in preventing recurrence.

        Approximately 80% of esomeprazole is removed via the urine as inactive metabolites; the remainder is further excreted through the feces.

        Side effects:
        As with all pharmaceutical medicines, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of esomeprazole capsules.

        Common side effects may include headache, abdominal pain, excess gas, insomnia, constipation, sleepiness, and tiredness.

        Indications and Usage

        Esomeprazole is indicated in the management and treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer, and excessive secretion of stomach acid caused by tumor or enlargement of the pancreas (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome).

        Esomeprazole is also used in eradicating Helicobacter pylori bacteria from the gut (used in combination with antibiotics).

        Esomeprazole capsules prevents peptic ulcer and helps reduce the risk of gastro-esophageal recurrence.

        Administration and Dosage

        Use of esomeprazole capsules during pregnancy or breastfeeding does not appear to be harmful.

        Consult your doctor or health care professional before taking esomeprazole.

        Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed the advisable dosage.

        The usual dose for adults is 40mg taken once a day. The usual dose for children is 20-40mg taken once per day depending on age and body weight.


        Possible interactions with esomeprazole capsules include blood thinners like warfarin, diazepam, digoxin, certain herbs, and some vitamin supplements.

        Esomeprazole capsules should not be taken with alcohol.
