Esomeprazole Capsules are a drug used to decrease stomach acid production. It is used for the treatment of conditions caused by an excess of stomach acid, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is effective in preventing peptic ulcers and reducing the risk of acid reflux recurrence.

Esomeprazole is also used as an adjuvant to antibiotics in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterial infection.

Esomeprazole is in a class of medications called proton pump inhibitors. The active ingredient works by inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase system, therefore blocking acid from being secreted into the stomach. Proton pump inhibitors typically take up to 4 days to reach full efficiency.
