Fosfomycin Calcium Capsules are an antibiotic drug used to treat uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections. This medication is a first-line therapy and is recommended for usage in the elderly. It's used as an adjuvant in chemotherapy to treat ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity caused by platinum-based anticancer drugs.

This medicine will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu.

Fosfomycin Calcium is a broad-spectrum phosphonic antibiotic. The active ingredient works by inactivating the enzyme, enolpyruvyl transferase, which inhibits cell wall synthesis in gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, such as some strains of Escherichia Coli and Enterococcus faecalis.

What is Fosfomycin Calcium used for?

How should Fosfomycin Calcium Capsules be used?

This medication has been manufactured to be taken orally. It should be taken on an empty stomach.

What dose should be taken?

For uncomplicated urinary tract infections due to Escherichia coli or Enterococcus faecalis, the usual dose is 3g taken as a single dose or 500mg taken every 6 hours.
