Product Information

General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Dobutamine HCL injections.

Dobutamine HCL Injections are a β-adrenergic agonist that is mainly used to treat heart failure and cardiogenic shock. It can also be used to improve heart function and support the heart after a heart attack or heart surgery. Dobutamine works by strengthening the heart muscle and improving blood flow.

Each mL of solution contains 50 mg of dobutamine. Dobutamine hydrochloride injection is typically given by an injection through the vein by a health professional in a hospital or clinic setting.

Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of dobutamine. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.

Common side effects include, but may not be limited to headaches, weakness, upset stomach, fatigue, vomiting, and dizziness. Seek medical attention if the following develop: allergic reaction, itching, hives, abnormal heartbeat, breathing problems, extreme weakness, fainting or chest pain.

For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult your doctor.

If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please call your doctor immediately.

Additional Information

Always consult your doctor or pharmacist before administering dobutamine hydrochloride.

If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call your doctor.

Do NOT use dobutamine if:

  • You are allergic to dobutamine or any other containing ingredients;
  • If you have heart valve problems, an adrenal gland tumor, tachyarrhythmia, or idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis.

There is little evidence with regards to the use of dobutamine injection during pregnancy or breast feeding, and so consult your doctor or health care professional before administering dobutamine hydrochloride. Only use dobutamine hydrochloride for pregnant and nursing women if clearly needed.

Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. For adult and pediatric dose, usual dose for cardiac decompensation is 2 to 20mcg/kg/min IV continuously. It is typically given by intravenous fluid that will drip through a needle or catheter placed into the vein over 12 hours, usually every other day.

Do not use dobutamine with β-adrenergic antagonists because they will counteract. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking and medical conditions you have before your treatment with dobutamine.
