Do NOT use dobutamine hcl injection if:
- You are allergic to dobutamine or any other containing ingredients;
- If you have heart valve problems, an adrenal gland tumor, tachyarrhythmia, or idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis.
There is little evidence with regards to the use of dobutamine hcl injection during pregnancy or breast feeding, and so consult your doctor or health care professional before administering dobutamine hcl injection. Only use dobutamine hcl injection for pregnant and nursing women if clearly needed.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. For adult and pediatric dose, usual dose for cardiac decompensation is 2 to 20mcg/kg/min IV continuously. It is typically given by intravenous fluid that will drip through a needle or catheter placed into the vein over 12 hours, usually every other day.
Do not use dobutamine with β-adrenergic antagonists because they will counteract. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking and medical conditions you have before your treatment with dobutamine hcl injection.
