What is a Monkeypox Test Kit?

Product Category:
Sub-Category:

A Monkeypox Test Kit is a medical detection tool used to qualitatively assess the presence of the monkeypox virus (MPV) in a patient. The test provides results in as little as 15 minutes, which can rapidly speed up a diagnosis and treatment for a patient and reduce further transmission of the infection.

The (MPV) monkeypox antigen test kit is a lateral flow immunoassay that is produced as a strip or cassette for diagnostic testing. Either whole blood/serum/plasma or rash exudate can be utilized for the rapid test.

AdvaCare Pharma manufactures Monkeypox Test Kits in ISO and CE-certified facilities located in strategic positions across the world. Each facility undergoes routine inspections to ensure adherence to international standards and regulatory compliance.

Product Specifications

Specimen

Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma can be utilized for testing. To collect a specimen, either standard venipuncture with 2 drops of blood or fingerstick with 50 μL of blood can be used. In the case of serum/plasma samples, the specimen should be centrifuged before transferring it to the assigned area of the cassette. The specimen can be transferred using a capillary tube or dropper. Immediately after transferring the specimen, a drop of the corresponding buffer dilution is added to the assigned area of the cassette to initiate the test.

Rash Exudate Swab can be used to take a small sample of cells from the skin lesion or sore that is present on the patient.

The rash exudate swab is packaged in a sterile blister pack. The long, thin part of the swab is made of plastic. There is a tip at the end of the swab that, applying firm pressure, absorbs a sample of material from the surface of the skin lesion. Immediately after collecting the sample, it is placed in a buffer dilution to proceed with the test.

Form

Cassette is a device that consists of a plastic box that contains a test strip inside. The container has an area for sample placement and a window in which the lines will be displayed. It displays a positive, negative, or invalid test result for the presence of monkeypox, which is readable after a short period of time.

Uses

What is a Monkeypox Test Kit used for?

It's used for detecting the presence of antigens specific to the monkeypox virus, which can help diagnose or monitor monkeypox infections.

How is a Monkeypox Test Kit used?

After collecting the sample required for the specific test kit, the sample should be applied to the designated area on the test strip or cassette. After a few minutes, the test kit can be observed and interpreted as per the included instructions.

Are there any specific storage requirements for Monkeypox Test Kits?

Unused test kits should be stored in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and any extreme temperatures. Consult the packaging for the exact temperature suitable for storage.

How should Monkeypox Test Kits be discarded?

As monkeypox test kits are used for the diagnosis of an infectious disease, used test kits should be treated as potentially biohazardous material and discarded in accordance with local regulations.

FAQs

How does the Monkeypox Test Kit work?

The rapid diagnostic test uses a lateral flow method. The reagents in the test will interact with any present antigens in the sample and give a visual signal to be read.

Should a blood or skin lesion sample be used?

Cell samples obtained using the rash exudate swab are easily collected. It is a non-invasive method that can be performed easily. It offers a targeted sample of an active infection, which can increase the likelihood of detecting MPV antigens. However, skin lesions typically have a lower viral load when compared with a blood sample, and the quality of the sample is highly dependent on the process and technique used for collection.

Whole blood, serum, and plasma typically have a higher viral load, which makes it easier for tests to detect antigens in the sample. It is a more invasive procedure, and blood collection and centrifugation require trained healthcare professionals. Additionally, antigens do not appear as quickly in the blood as they do in an active skin lesion. This could cause a delay in diagnosis.

Are Monkeypox Test Kits suitable for use in outbreak areas?

MPV rapid test kits are ideal for outbreak areas, as they are portable and require minimal equipment or specialized training. Additionally, they are simple to use and provide quick results, which helps to reduce the time necessary for response and treatment.

Can Monkeypox Test Kits be used in field settings or remote areas?

The monkeypox antigen test cassette is portable, lightweight, and compact, making it ideal for use in on-site testing in the field or remote areas.
