What is an Ovulation Test Kit?
An Ovulation Test Kit is a medical diagnostic tool designed to qualitatively detect a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH), which can indicate upcoming ovulation. Ovulation is the most fertile period of the menstrual cycle, and an LH surge will often occur 1-2 days before an egg is released from the ovary.
The (LH) ovulation test kit is a lateral flow immunoassay. They require a urine sample and are available in three forms: test strip, cassette, and midstream.
AdvaCare Pharma manufactures Ovulation Test Kits in ISO and CE-certified facilities located in strategic positions across the world. Each facility undergoes routine inspections to ensure adherence to international standards and regulatory compliance.

Form
Urine
Urine specimen can be collected at any time using a clean and dry container. It is important to ensure that the container is free from contaminants or any debris. Care should be taken to avoid touching the inside of the container or contaminating the urine samples with any external substances.
Strip
Strip consists of a reaction pad where the lines will be displayed as a positive, negative, or invalid test result. The end of the strip should be inserted into the urine sample for at least 20 seconds, which will then display the result. The strip's design ensures accurate and reliable detection of LH in the urine sample.
Cassette
Cassette consists of a plastic box that contains a test strip inside. It has an area for sample placement and a window in which the lines will be displayed as a positive, negative, or invalid test result.
The cassette's design ensures that the test strip remains stable and protected, which can minimize the potential for contamination or damage during the testing process.
Midstream
Midstream device features a strip housed in an elongated plastic device, one end is used as a handle and the other end has the urine sample collection window protected by a cap. In the central part is the window where the lines that show the positive, negative, or invalid test result will appear.

Uses
What is an Ovulation Test Kit used for?
It's used to detect luteinizing hormone (LH) to help determine the release of an egg from an ovary.
How is an Ovulation Test Kit used?
The exact usage will depend on the style of test being performed. Typically, a urine sample is collected and then the test strip or cassette is then dipped into the urine, or urine is applied to the designated area. After the indicated time, the test is interpreted by observing the appearance of the visual signal on the test device.
How should unused Ovulation Test Kits be stored?
Unused test kits should be kept in a cool and dry location until use. It is important to check the expiration date before use, as expired kits may not display accurate results.
What is the best method for disposing of Ovulation Test Kits?
It is advised to follow local regulations and guidelines for medical waste disposal; however, typically ovulation test kits are not considered biohazardous waste.
FAQs
How do Ovulation Test Kits work?
The rapid test devices contain specific antibodies that will bind to any LH that is present in a sample of urine. The result will be displayed as positive, negative, or invalid.
Are there any factors that can affect the accuracy of ovulation rapid test results?
There are some factors that may impact the accuracy of a rapid test result. Medications that contain luteinizing hormone (LH) or human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) may lead to false-positive results. Fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) can also impact the levels of LH in the body. Hormonal imbalances, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), may affect the accuracy of a test, as well.
Moreover, it is crucial to perform the test at the time of the menstrual cycle as instructed by the test kit. It is best performed at the beginning of a day, as the urine sample is less diluted.
How long does it take for results to show on an Ovulation Test Kit?
Results are visible within a few minutes.
