Product Information
General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Sulfadoxine Pyrimethamine syrup.
Sulfadoxine pyrimethamine syrup is an antimalarial to treat and prevent malaria when other medicines may not be effective or appropriate. It works by blocking the formation of folinic acid in the malaria organism, killing the parasite.
Sulfadoxine pyrimethamine syrup is a sulfonamide-pyrimethamine antiprotozoal. It may be used alongside other antimalarial medications such as artesunate. Sulfadoxine competes with p-aminobenzoic acid in the biosynthesis of folate and pyrimethamine is a selective inhibitor of protozoal dihydrofolate reductase, which prevents the synthesis of tetrahydrofolate. The synergy between the two leads to a more effective treatment of malaria.
Drink extra fluids while taking the medication. Take the medication after a meal. Do not chew before swallowing.
