        Product Information

        General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Nifedipine capsules.

Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker. It works by blocking calcium channels that surround the muscle cells in the arterial walls.
Nifedipine relaxes and widens the arteries of the feet and hands and this action improves blood circulation to the lower extremities. This effect helps relieve the Raynaud ’s phenomenon (vasospasms in the hands and feet causing numbness and cold). By widening and relaxing the smaller arteries of the body, the extra-pressure the heart has to push in order to pump blood around the body is significantly reduced.

This reduces the pressure and resistance within the blood vessels and lowers the blood pressure. Nifedipine also relaxes the arteries which supply blood and oxygen to the cardiac muscles; this effect prevents painful angina attacks which come as a result of reduced oxygen supply to the heart muscles.

Nifedipine is completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and its elimination is through the renal system (urine) which accounts for 80% of the dose excretion.

        Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceutical medicines, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of nifedipine capsules.

Always consult a physician for medical advice before use. Common side effects may include headache, nausea, dizziness, flushing, heartburn, muscle cramps, constipation, weakness, reduced sexual desire/ability, edema of the legs or feet and lightheadedness. Some serious side effects may include low blood pressure, liver damage, edema, chest pain, and allergic reactions. For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult your doctor.
