General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Lincomycin Capsules.
Lincomycin Capsules are a lincosamide antibiotic that comes from the actinomyces Streptomyces lincolnensis. Lincomycin is indicated in the treatment of serious infections due to susceptible strains of streptococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci.
Although similar in structure, antibacterial spectrum, and in the mechanism of action to macrolides, it is also effective against other species as well, i.e., actinomycetes, mycoplasma, and some species of Plasmodium.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of lincomycin. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.
Common side effects include, but may not be limited to diarrhea, dizziness, nausea, pain or irritation at the injection site, vomiting.
Seek medical attention if the following develop: severe allergic reactions, bloody or watery stools, change in how much urine is passed, difficulty swallowing, dizziness, mouth irritation or mouth sores, ringing in the ears, severe or persistent diarrhea, stomach pain or cramps, swelling of hands, eyes, or throat, yellowing of skin or eyes. Driving or operating machinery is okay, and no special precautions have to be taken.
Do NOT use lincomycin if:
- You are allergic to any ingredient in lincomycin;
- You are taking erythromycin.
There is little evidence with regards to the use of lincomycin during pregnancy or breast feeding, so consult your doctor or health care professional before taking it.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is oral, 500mg 3-4 times daily. Consult your doctor regarding dosage for children.
Inform your doctor, pharmacist, health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially erythromycin, because it may decrease lincomycin’s effectiveness.
