Indications and Usage
Clotrimazole is indicated in the treatment of fungal infections.
Clotrimazole is used for oropharyngeal candidiasis, vaginal yeast infections, ringworm, jock itch, athlete’s foot and other infections of fungal origin.
Administration and Dosage
Use of clotrimazole tablets during pregnancy or breastfeeding does not appear to be harmful.
Consult your doctor or health care professional before taking clotrimazole tablets.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed the advisable dosage.
The usual dose for adults is 100mg taken twice daily.
The usual dose for children is 100mg taken twice daily depending on age and body weight.
Possible interactions with clotrimazole tablets include rifamycins, other antifungals, and some herbs.
Clotrimazole tablets should not be taken with alcohol. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with clotrimazole tablets.
Clotrimazole is contraindicated if:
- You have a severe liver disease;
- You are below 15years old;
- You are hypersensitive to any drug of the azole antifungals.
Taking more medicines may cause poisoning and serious side effects. Please call the emergency department if you suspect clotrimazole tablets overdose.
Adverse Reactions and Precautions
Do not take clotrimazole if you are allergic to its active ingredients or other azole antifungals, are taking herbs or vitamin supplements not recommended by your doctor, have not consulted with your doctor on clotrimazole tablets usage, or have a severe liver disease.
No adverse reactions have been reported.
