Chloroquine Phosphate Tablets are used for the prevention and treatment of malaria. This antimalarial has been found to be highly active against erythrocytic forms of P. vivax, P. malariae and most strains of P. falciparum. It is also used to treat some autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus.

What dose should be taken?

For adults, the elderly, and children over 12 years old, the usual dosage is 2 tablets as a single weekly dose, taken on the same day each week during exposure.

This product should only be given to children younger than 12 years old under the supervision of a doctor.

Side Effects

Do NOT use Chloroquine Tablets if:

  • You have a rare hereditary problem of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
  • You are currently taking amiodarone for treatment of irregular heartbeats.
  • You suffer from porphyria.
  • You suffer from kidney disorders.
  • You suffer from liver disorders, particularly cirrhosis.
  • You suffer from psoriasis.
  • You suffer from convulsions or other nervous disorders.
  • You suffer from gastrointestinal disorders.

Consult with a doctor about any medications you are taking before treatment with Chloroquine Phosphate.

If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, call your doctor.
