General Information:
Dihydroartemisinin oral suspension is a drug manufactured and used to treat malaria. Its active ingredient, dihydro-artemisinin, is the active metabolite of all artemisinin compounds and is also available as a drug in itself. It is also sold commercially in combination with piperaquine and has been shown to be equivalent to artemether-lumefantrine. Dihydroartemisinin powder for suspension is recommended in the treatment of acute malaria attacks, as it is potent against multi-antimalarial resistant parasites.
Dihydroartemisinin oral suspension induces a rapid absorption and therefore has a quick effect.

Do NOT use dihydroartemisinin if:
- You are hypersensitive to the active ingredient.
Use of dihydroartemisinin oral suspension during pregnancy or breast feeding should be limited. Consult your doctor or health care professional before using dihydroartemisinin.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: 2mg/kg for the first day and 1mg/kg per from the second to fifth or seventh day. Usual does for children is: (between one and six years) 20ml once a day on the first day of treatment, from the second to the seventh day 10ml per day; (for infant under one year) 10ml on first day, from the second to the seventh day 5ml a day.
