It is also used to treat foot rot in sheep caused by Bacteroides nodosus. This antibiotic is for use in dogs, cats and livestock animals like cows, goats, sheep, and pigs.

This antibiotic combination is effective against certain gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria. Spectinomycin is classified in the aminocyclitol family of medicines. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis within the bacteria. Lincomycin is a bacteriostatic narrow-spectrum antibiotic of the lincosamide group.
