Lincomycin HCL + Spectinomycin Injection is a combination antibiotic drug used to treat respiratory tract infections, such as airsacculitis caused by Mycoplasma synoviae or M. gallisepticum. It is also used to treat foot rot in sheep caused by Bacteroides nodosus. This antibiotic is for use in dogs, cats and livestock animals like cows, goats, sheep, and pigs.

This antibiotic combination is effective against certain gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria. Spectinomycin is classified in the aminocyclitol family of medicines. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis within the bacteria. Lincomycin is a bacteriostatic narrow-spectrum antibiotic of the lincosamide group.

Dosage

The usual dose is 1ml per 10kg of body weight, given once per day for 3-7 days.

How much Lincomycin HCL + Spectinomycin Injection should be given to dogs and cats?

The usual dose is 1 ml per 5kg body weight for 3-5 days, with a maximum of 21 days.

Side Effects

As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Lincomycin HCL + Spectinomycin Injection.

Some common side effects may include but are not limited to: • diarrhea and/or swelling of the anus (in swine)

Serious side effects may include:

  • allergic reaction
  • Clostridium overgrowth in certain species

  • has kidney or liver disease.
  • is pregnant or lactating.
