AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Dextriferron injection.
Dextriferron injection is used for prophylaxis and treatment of iron deficiency caused anemia.
It is important to note that AdvaCare’s dextriferron liquid injection is for veterinary purposes only, and although there are similar products available for human consumption, you should only use the prescribed medication(s) of a veterinary doctor or animal care specialist for an animal.
As with all veterinary medicine, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of dextriferron. Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist for medical advice before use.
Tissue discoloration and/or local edema may occur at the injection site but will subside in a few days. Interactions with other drugs: Mixing of iron dextran for injection with other preparations should be avoided, so as not to impair its stability, efficacy, and tolerability.
For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult a veterinary physician.
If any symptom persists or intensifies, please seek veterinary medical treatment immediately.
Always consult a veterinary physician or animal care specialist before using dextriferron.
If the condition does not improve, call a veterinary physician or animal care specialist.
Refer to an animal care specialist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise, and complete the full treatment, as stopping early can result in a recurrence or worsening of the problem. The usual dosage is as follows:
Piglets are given 1ml iron dextran for injection by deep intramuscular injection on the third day after birth. This will ensure an adequate supply of iron for growth until a bodyweight of approximately 6-7kg is reached, and until iron intake from supplementary or starter feeds begins. In herds, which are the risk of anemia before the birth of piglets, it is recommended to ensure that the sows have an adequate intake of vitamin E.
Grown-up swine 5-10ml per dose.
Calves: 4-12ml during the 1st week, if necessary to be repeated at 4 to 6 weeks of age.
Consult with an animal care specialist about any other medications that are being taken by the animal, and their medical history, before their treatment with dextriferron liquid injection.
