Amitraz Dip Solution is a topical ectoparasiticide used to treat and control demodicosis and other external parasitic infestations in livestock animals, like cows, sheep, goats, and pigs, and companion animals, such as dogs and cats. This broad-spectrum ectoparasiticide is effective for fleas, scabies, lice, ticks, and mites.

Amitraz is a lower toxic intensity than many other topical antiparasitics, so it is a safe treatment option for many animals, including lactating dairy cows. It typically begins to work within 2 hours of application, but it may take repeated treatments to treat complications such as sarcoptic mange or demodicosis.

Amitraz is classified as a non-systemic acaricide and insecticide, which has several different mechanisms of action within the parasite. It shows activity against many types of parasites, including Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ctenocephalides canis, Boophilus microplus, Sarcoptes scabiei (bovis, suis), and Melophagus ovinus.

What is Amitraz used for?

How is Amitraz Dip Solution used?

This medication has been manufactured as a concentrated liquid, which is intended to be diluted and then administered topically. Typically, Amitraz should be used at a dilution rate of 0.025%-0.05%.

Before treatment, trim the hair or fur, clean with a mild soap, and dry thoroughly. The diluted solution should be applied to the animal so that all parts are thoroughly covered. Pay particular attention to the stomach, inside of the legs, and ears.  Do not towel dry or rinse. Animals should not be given a bath for a week following the treatment.

Do not reuse the diluted solution, as this may spread the infection. Discard any unused portion.

How should Amitraz Dip Solution be stored?

This medication should be stored in a dark, dry location between 15-25°C. After opening the bottle, Amitraz deteriorates quickly when exposed to air, so discard any unused solution.

What is the withdrawal period for Amitraz Dip Solution?

The withdrawal period is 7 days for milk and 28 days for meat.

How much Amitraz Dip Solution should be used for cows?

To prepare the solution, mix 20ml of solution with 10L of water, which should be applied using a sprayer.

Do not inhale the fumes of the solution. Administer the product in a well-ventilated area. Wear protective gloves while handling this product, and thoroughly wash your hands after treatment. Avoid handling the animal immediately after treatment.

This product is toxic when orally consumed. Contact local poison control in the event of accidental ingestion.
