What is Vitamin C used for?
It's used to treat vitamin C deficiency and scurvy. It is also used in the treatment of cancer. Vitamin C Tablets are also given to improve immune function or to aid weight loss.
How are Vitamin C Tablets used?
This medication has been manufactured as a solution intended to be given by Tablets under the skin, into a muscle, or by infusion into a vein. It is typically administered by a healthcare professional in a hospital or clinic setting.
What dose should be taken?
For scurvy, the usual dose is 100-250mg, taken once or twice per day. Treatment of higher than 500mg per day is rarely effective. The maximum dose is 6g in one day. The duration of treatment is 2 weeks, followed by dietary supplementation.
Dietary supplementation dosage is dependent on medical condition, nutritional dietary needs, response to the treatment, age, and weight.
For the common cold, the usual dose is 1-3g, taken once per day.
For methemoglobinemia (adjunct), the usual dose is 300-600mg, taken once per day.
For urinary acidification, the usual dose is 1-3g, taken once or twice per day.
