Product Information
General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Perphenazine tablets.
Perphenazine tablets are an antipsychotic drug. It is a piperazinyl phenothiazine that has been used clinically for decades. It is five times as potent as chlorpromazine, thus making it a medium-potency antipsychotic.
Perphenazine tablets can be used to treat depression, in combination with an antidepressant, in low doses. It has no intrinsic antidepressive activity. It can also be used as a tranquilizer in patients with known history of drug and/or alcohol addiction. Perphenazine has anxiolytic and sedating properties that make it useful to treat agitated psychotic patients. It can also treat catatonia, a life-threatening state of agitation, in high doses. It can be used in combination with electroconvulsive therapy.
Perphenazine works by blocking dopamine receptors, reducing the excess of dopamine in the brain. This reduces psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions. It blocks dopamine and histamine-1 receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone, thus relieving nausea and vomiting. It also binds to alpha-adrenergic receptors. It is a phenothiazine derivative with antiemetic and antipsychotic properties.
