Fluticasone is a steroid used to treat nasal symptoms caused by seasonal and year-round allergy symptoms. It prevents the release of substances in the body which cause inflammation and consequentially congestion, sneezing, and runny nose.

This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It may also reduce other symptoms of seasonal allergies such as red, itchy, and watery eyes.

Indications and Usage

Fluticasone furoate nasal spray is used to relieve seasonal and all year round allergy symptoms of the nose such as stuffy/runny nose, itching, sneezing, and itchy eyes/nose/throat, sneezing.

Fluticasone furoate nasal spray is for nasal use only. It works by reducing swelling (inflammation) in the nasal passages.

Precautions

Do not take fluticasone furoate nasal spray if:

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients;
  • You have infections such as tuberculosis;
  • You had any nose injury, ulcers or any surgery;
  • You have eye problems such as glaucoma and cataracts.

It is unknown if fluticasone furoate nasal spray is excreted in breast milk. Consult your doctor or health care professional before inhaling the nasal spray in pregnant or nursing mothers.

Avoid contact with people who have infections that may spread to others (such as chickenpox, measles, flu). Consult your doctor if you have been exposed to an infection or for more details.

This medication may slow down a child’s growth if used for a long time. The effect on final adult height is unknown. See the doctor regularly so your child’s height can be checked.

Administration and Dosage
