Indications and Usage
Olanzapine + Fluoxetine HCL Tablets are used to treat certain types of mental/mood disorder. One of these disorders is depression associated with bipolar disorder. It is also to treat depression that has not responded to other medications.
Olanzapine + fluoxetine help you sleep, improve your concentration, improve your mood, decrease nervousness, and help restore balance in the brain neurotransmitters.
Do NOT take olanzapine + fluoxetine if:
- You are allergic to its active ingredients;
- You have a personal or family history of suicide attempts;
- You have breast cancer;
- You have low blood pressure;
- You have glaucoma, prostate problems, seizures, stomach ulcers or a history of serious heart disease;
- You have brain problems like dementia or stroke;
- You have respiratory problems, sleep apnea, and high cholesterol;
- You have a serious liver disease;
- You are going to drive or handle other dangerous machinery.
Administration and Dosage
Use of olanzapine + fluoxetine HCL tablets during pregnancy or breastfeeding may appear to be harmful. Consult your doctor or health care professional before taking olanzapine + fluoxetine. Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed the advisable dosage. The usual dose for adults is 5mg + 20mg taken once a day. Do not take more than 18mg + 75mg in a day.
The usual dose for children aged 10 -17 years is 3mg + 20mg taken once a day depending on age and body weight. Do not take more than 12mg + 50mg in a day. Olanzapine + Fluoxetine HCL Tablets are not for children below the age of 10years.
Possible interactions with olanzapine + fluoxetine HCL tablets include narcolepsy drugs, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, naproxen, celecoxib, antidepressants, blood thinners, and narcotic pain medicines. Olanzapine + fluoxetine tablets should not be taken with alcohol. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking before your treatment with olanzapine + fluoxetine HCL tablets.
Taking more medicines may cause poisoning and severe side effects. Please call the emergency department if you suspect olanzapine + fluoxetine HCL tablets overdose.
