General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Norfloxacin HCL capsules.
Norfloxacin HCL capsules are in a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. Norfloxacin HCL capsules is a synthetic chemotherapeutic agent used to treat common as well as complicated urinary tract infections and prostate infections. It is also used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Norfloxacin. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.
Common side effects include, but may not be limited to nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and insomnia. There can also be signs of allergic reaction such as: rash, hives, itching, redness, swollen, blistering, skin peeling, fever, wheezing, chest or throat tightness, problems to breath, swallow or talk, unusual hoarseness, swelling of face or mouth. More severe side effects include: signs of kidney problems, a sudden weight gain, chest pain or pressure, accelerated heartbeat. Among the other probable side effects we have: tiredness or weakness, shortness of breath, unexplained bruising or bleeding, ringing in the ears, muscle pain or trouble walking, vaginal itching or discharges, white patches in the mouth.

If you are taking other medicines, or you think you may need to use an alternative form of norfloxacin capsules, always remember to ask your doctor’s opinion first. In these cases it’s useful to keep with you a list of all the drugs you are taking. Talk to him before starting any new cure as well, vitamins and natural products included.
If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call your healthcare providers. Never use this medicine for a longer period of time than you have been told by your doctor.
Driving or operating machinery is okay, as it does not impair motor functions.
Indications and Usage
Take norfloxacin as indicated by your doctor. Take it at the same time every day on an empty stomach with an entire glass of water. Take norfloxacin one hour before or two hours after meals or having dairy products.
Do not miss doses, if you do, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s too close to the time for the next dose, skip the missed one and do not ever take two doses at the same time. Do not overdose it.
Continue to take norfloxacin as suggested by your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare provider until the prescribed timing is over even though you feel better before.
Administration and Dosage
The dose may be decided depending on your age, condition, response to the treatment, weight or other medical conditions you have. The dosage may also depend on the problem you are going to treat. Do always consult your doctor to decide the daily amount of norfloxacin you have to take daily.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: 100mg.
Interactions
Before you take this drug, you need to tell your doctor if you are allergic to norfloxacin or any other part of it, if you are allergic to any drug that is similar to this one, to any food or any other substances. Tell your doctor if you have any of the following symptoms: rash, hives, itching, shortness of breath, wheezing, cough, face, lips, tongue or throat swelling. You need also to inform your doctor in case you have had health problems such as long QT on ECG, low magnesium or potassium levels, nerve or tendon problems.
Before taking norfloxacin, inform your doctor or healthcare specialist in case you are taking nitrofurantoin, if you had heartbeat problems in the past or if you are taking any medication that can cause usual heartbeat. If your breast-feeding, ask always your doctor’s opinion first.
Overdose
If you take a larger dose than you should take, tell your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare specialist promptly even if you don’t feel bad. Bring with you the container and tell them about the amount you took and related timing.
Adverse Reactions and Precautions
Tell your doctor, pharmacist or any health care specialist that you are taking norfloxacin.
Do not drive or do other things that require you to be focused until you see how this drug affects you. If you have diabetes, you may need to check your blood constantly, and if you have signs of altered blood sugar level, like breath that smells like fruit, fast breathing or heartbeat, sense of confusion, tiredness or weakness, headache, thirst or hunger, shaking or sweating.
Inform your doctor in case you are using any medicine or eating any food and drinking any beverage which contains caffeine. Avoid sun as norfloxacin may cause you to get sunburned more easily, use sunscreen and wear shades to protect yourself from the sun.
Children do not have to take this drug if younger than 18 years old. Adults older than 60, may also be careful in taking norfloxacin. Talk always to your doctor and ask him for a consultation before.
If you are pregnant or you are planning to be pregnant you need to ask your doctor or health care specialist’s opinion before starting the therapy, since he may need to consider if the benefits overweigh the risks.
Rarely very bad and fatal reactions have been caused by norfloxacin such as blood, liver, kidney, muscles or joints problems. A very serious skin problem called “Stevens-Johnson syndrome” may be caused, which determines very bad and irreversible health problems and sometimes death. Call your doctor immediately if you have symptoms like redness, swelling, blistering, skin peeling, sore mouth, throat, nose or eyes, red or irritated eyes. Norfloxacin may also cause a serious form of diarrhea named “Clostridium difficile” (CDAD), which sometimes leads to a fatal problem, colitis. Call your health care specialist promptly if you have stomach pain or cramps, watery or bloody stools.
