Product Information
General Information:
Methyldopa Tablets are a medication to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. Lowering heart pressure then helps to prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Methyldopa works by relaxing the blood vessels so blood can more easily flow.
Methyldopa is the L-isomer of alpha-methyldopa. It decreases the level of certain chemicals in the blood, allowing the blood vessels to widen and the heart to beat more slowly and easily.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of methyldopa tablets. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Common methyldopa side effects include, but may not be limited to dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, headache, stuffy nose, and weakness. Seek medical attention if the following develop: swelling of ankles/feet, sudden weight gain, fainting, muscle spasms, irregular periods, decreased sexual ability, or depression.
For a comprehensive list of all possible methyldopa side effects, consult your doctor. If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please call your doctor immediately.
