AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Dextrose Saline infusions.
Dextrose saline infusions are a sterile, non-pyrogenic fluid and electrolyte replenishment and caloric supply in single dose containers for intravenous administration. It contains no antimicrobial agents.
Dextrose saline solution is used as a source of water, electrolytes and calories for hydration and energy.
Dextrose provides a source of calories and energy. Dextrose is readily absorbed, helps in decreasing the nitrogen and body protein losses, and stimulates glycogen deposition and help in preventing ketosis.
Sodium, the major cation of the extracellular fluid, functions primarily in fluid balance, and osmotic pressure of body fluids. Sodium is also associated with chloride and bicarbonate in facilitating of the acid-base equilibrium of body fluid.
Chloride, the major extracellular anion, works synergistically with sodium, and changes in the acid-base balance of the body are reflected by changes in the chloride concentration.
Treatment should be initiated only by physicians.
As with all pharmaceuticals some unwanted effects can occur from the use of dextrose saline infusions. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use.
Common dextrose saline side effects include: febrile response, infection at the site of injection, venous thrombosis or phlebitis, extravasation and hypervolemia.
