What is Clonazepam?
Active Ingredients: Clonazepam
Clonazepam Tablets are a drug used to treat certain seizure disorders, such as absence seizures or Lennox-Gastaut syndrome) in adults and children. It is indicated for anxiety and panic disorders, including agoraphobia. Clonazepam may be prescribed for restless legs syndrome, sleep terrors, and sleepwalking.
Clonazepam is classified as a benzodiazepine. It works by reducing electric activity in the brain.

Uses
What is Clonazepam used for?
It's used to treat anxiety and seizure disorders. It's also used to treat:
- restless legs syndrome
- confusional arousals
- sleep terrors
- sleepwalking
- rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder
- burning mouth syndrome
- Tourette syndrome
How are Clonazepam Tablets used?
This medication has been manufactured to be taken orally.
What dose should be taken?
Seizure disorder:
- For adults the usual dose is 0.5-5mg, taken three times per day.
- For pediatric patients less than 10 years old, or under 30kg, the usual dose is 0.1-0.2mg/kg, divided and given two or three times per day.
- For children over 10 years old, or greater than 30kg, the usual dose is 0.5-5mg, taken two or three times per day.
For panic disorder, the usual dose is 0.25-0.5, taken once or twice per day. The maximum dosage is 4mg per day.
For restless legs syndrome, the usual dose is 0.5-2mg, taken 30 minutes before bedtime.
Side Effects
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Clonazepam Tablets.
Common side effects include, but may not be limited to:
- drowsiness
- dizziness
- memory problems
- depression
Seek medical attention if the following develop:
- worsening seizures
- severe drowsiness
- changes in breathing
- mood or behavior changes
- suicidal thoughts
- unusual eye movements
Some withdrawal effects may last up to 12 months after treatment ends.

Precautions
Do NOT use Clonazepam Tablets if:
- You are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.
- You have had a hypersensitivity reaction to any other benzodiazepine.
- You have narrow-angle glaucoma.
- You have severe liver disease.
This medication may not be suitable for people with certain conditions, including:
- kidney or liver disease
- breathing problems
- mood problems, such as depression or suicidal behaviors
- porphyria
This drug may increase suicidal thoughts. It is important for you and your family or caregivers to watch for sudden changes in behavior.
This medicine should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if the benefits outweigh the risks. Consult a doctor or healthcare professional before treatment. Do not start or stop seizure medications without consulting a doctor.
Many drugs are known to interact with Clonazepam, including opioids, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, or other anxiety/seizure medications.
Do not drink alcohol while undergoing treatment with this medicine. Avoid driving until the effects of the medicine are clear.
