What is Bromazepam?
Active Ingredients: Bromazepam
Bromazepam Tablets are an anxiolytic drug used to treat severe anxiety or panic disorders. It is typically prescribed as short-term relief while other treatments take effect. Bromazepam is classified as a classical benzodiazepine. It has an intermediate onset; at low doses, this drug displays anxiolytic effects, while higher doses are associated sedative, hypnotic, and skeletal muscle relaxant effects. The active ingredient works by binding to the GABA-A receptor.

Bromazepam in generalized anxiety: Randomized, multi-practice comparisons with both chlorprothixene and placebo
This randomized, double-blind group-comparative multicenter trial compared bromazepam with a placebo and with chlorprothixene.
This study included 245 patients with generalized anxiety disorder (DSM-III 1980) who were treated for 2 weeks with two daily doses of bromazepam, 3mg or chlorprothixene, 15mg or placebo. Median reductions in Hamilton's Anxiety rating were 12 (bromazepam), 10.3 (chlorprothixene), and 7.3 (placebo).
The results showed the superiority of bromazepam over placebo (median differences 3.3, 95% confidence limits: 0.3 and 6.1), and also tolerance was rated as “at least good” in 85.6% on bromazepam, in 86% on chlorprothixene and in 87.8% on placebo.
The conclusion of this study is that bromazepam and chlorprothixene are both superior to placebo in generalized anxiety states treated in general practice.
