Uses
What is Atenolol used for?
It's used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). It's also used to improve survival after myocardial infarction (heart attack).
How should Atenolol Tablets be used?
This medication has been manufactured to be taken orally. Avoid drinking apple juice or orange juice, as they may affect absorption.
What dose should be taken?
For hypertension, the usual dose is 25-50mg per day. The maximum dosage is 100mg in a day.
For angina, the usual dose is 50mg, taken once a day. The maximum dosage is 200mg a day.
For improving survival after myocardial infarction, the usual dose is 100mg, divided and taken once or twice a day.
The dosage is based on medical condition, response to the treatment, age, and weight. Refer to a doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.
Side Effects
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Atenolol Tablets.
