Tegafur tablets are a chemotherapeutic fluorouracil drug with antineoplastic action. It is a prodrug that is gradually converted to fluorouracil in the liver. This medicine is indicated mainly for gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, other gastrointestinal cancers and also for breast cancer, nasal cavity, lung and liver cancer.
It is to be used before and after surgery to prevent cancer recurrence, proliferation and metastasis.
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of tegafur. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Common side effects include, but may not be limited to anemia, bleeding episodes, diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, sore mouth, tiredness, liver changes.
