Mitomycin C for Injection is an anticancer drug used to treat upper gastrointestinal (e.g., esophageal carcinoma), rectal cancers, pancreatic, neck cancers, cervix cancers, lung cancers, and breast cancers. Mitomycin C can also be given via a bladder instillation for superficial bladder tumors.

Mitomycin C for Injection is an antineoplastic and antitumor antibiotic drug. It is derived from the microorganism, Streptomyces caespitosus. This drug works by binding the cancer cell's DNA together, which means that the cell cannot divide, and the cancer cells cannot grow further.

What is Mitomycin C used for?

How is Mitomycin C for Injection used?

This medication has been manufactured as a powder, which is stored in a vial. The powder is to be prepared into a solution, and after reconstitution, it should be administered by injection into a vein.

What dose should be given?

For stomach or pancreatic cancer, the usual dose is 20mg/m² IV, given on day 1 of a 42- or 56-day cycle. It is typically part of a multidrug chemotherapy treatment.

The exact dose for adults depends on the type of disease and the patient's general condition. Refer to a doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.

Side Effects
