General Information:
Etoposide injection is an anti-cancer chemotherapy drug classified as a plant alkaloid and topoisomerase II inhibitors. Etoposide injection is used as a treatment for many types of cancer including testicular, bladder, prostate, lung, stomach, and uterine. Etoposide also may be given as high-dose therapy for a bone marrow transplant. In general, etoposide works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells in the body.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of etoposide. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Common etoposide side effects include, but may not be limited to pain at the injection site, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, pale skin, loss of appetite or weight, unusual tiredness, dizziness, hair loss, eye pain. Seek medical attention if the following develop: rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing, irregular heartbeat, seizures, yellowing of the eyes or skin.

Additional Information
Driving or operating machinery should be avoided, as it may cause pain in the injection site.
Do NOT use etoposide if:
- You are hypersensitive to any component of the formulation.
There is little evidence with regards to the use of etoposide during pregnancy or breast feeding, and so consult your doctor or health care professional before taking etoposide.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is: from 50 to 100 mg/day on days 1 through 5 to 100 mg/day on days 1, 3, and 5.
Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with etoposide injection.
