What is Metronidazole + Glucose?
Active Ingredients: Metronidazole, Glucose
Metronidazole + Glucose Injection is a drug used in the treatment of serious infections caused by anaerobic bacteria or protozoa when oral administration is inappropriate. It is used to treat infections of many parts of the body, including the gastrointestinal tract, heart, bones, joints, and nervous system.
Metronidazole is a broad-spectrum nitroimidazole with antimicrobial properties. It shows activity against gram-negative anaerobic bacteria, gram-positive anaerobic bacteria, and protozoa.
Glucose is used to restore blood glucose levels and to provide a source of carbohydrate calories when needed.

What is Metronidazole + Glucose used for?
It is used to treat infections caused by susceptible organisms, particularly anaerobic bacteria and protozoa.
How should Metronidazole + Glucose Injection be used?
This medication is manufactured as a solution, which should only be administered by a doctor or healthcare provider.
What dose should be given?
For anaerobic infections, the usual dose for adults is 1000-1500mg daily as a single treatment. Alternatively, 500mg given every 8 hours is also a viable treatment option.
For children, the usual dose is 20-30mg/kg per day as a single dose. Alternatively, a typical dose may be 7.5mg/kg, divided and given every 8 hours.
Refer to a doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.
Side Effects
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Metronidazole + Glucose Injection.
