General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Mefloquine HCL Tablets.
Mefloquine HCL Tablets is an orally administered antimalarial drug. Mefloquine is used to prevent malaria (malaria prophylaxis) and also in the treatment of falciparum malaria. This medication is effective against malaria parasites resistant to other antimalarials such as chloroquine, proguanil, pyrimethamine and pyrimethamine-sulfonamide combinations.
Mefloquine is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate acute malaria caused by mefloquine-susceptible strains of P. falciparum (both chloroquine-susceptible and resistant strains) or by Plasmodiumvivax.
Mefloquine is indicated for the prophylaxis of P. falciparum and P. vivax malaria infections, including prophylaxis of chloroquine-resistant strains of P. falciparum.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of mefloquine. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Common side effects include, but may not be limited to diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, and emotional problems. Seek medical attention if the following develop: aching joints, fever, anxiety, blistering, fainting, vomiting, sore throat, sores, ulcers, stiff neck, and swelling of the ankles, feet or lower legs, unusual tiredness.

Do NOT use mefloquine if:
- You are allergic to any ingredient in mefloquine;
- You have a history of mental illness such as anxiety disorder, depression;
- You have a history of seizures;
- You are taking chloroquine, halofantrien, ketoconazole, quindine, or quinine.
Use of mefloquine during pregnancy or breast feeding is only recommended when clearly needed. Consult your doctor or health care professional before taking mefloquine.
