Product Information
AdvaCare is a CE, ISO and USFDA manufacturer of Heel Protectors.
The StayGuard™ brand of Heel Protectors is internationally distributed and recognized for reliable quality and exceptional value. With distribution across developed and developing markets alike, our products are uniquely positioned as the brand of choice for medical professionals.
It is common knowledge that heels are particularly vulnerable to pressure injuries due to direct sustained pressure on the heel which comes as a result of prolonged contact with a supporting surface. AdvaCare’s heel protectors are specially designed to offload this pressure from the heel’s bony prominence region and redistribute it to the larger surface area of the lower leg, greatly reducing the risk of pressure injury at the heel.
Our heel protectors completely elevate the heels from the surface while firmly securing the legs during procedures in the supine position. This in turn also helps to reduce the risk of heel pressure during surgery and helps in keeping the patient’s feet and legs in the recommended position. Advacare’s heel protectors are GMP, ISO, CE and USFDA approved.

BENEFITS OF HEEL PROTECTORS
- Easy to apply and adjust;
- Adjustable straps offer a comfortable fit and features a soft padding that distributes weight and assists in preventing pressure sores;
- Easily offloads pressure from the heel and redistributes it to the larger surface area of the leg.
USAGE
Before positioning a patient in the supine position, ensure the patient’s heel is elevated off the underlying surface, and the patient’s knees should be flexed approximately 5 to 10 degrees.
- Unfasten all hook and loop closures on the medical device;
- Carefully and gently lower the patient’s heel into the protector. Keep in mind that bending the patient’s knee during this process may prove to be helpful;
- In the event where a compression device is used, carefully route tubing through the porthole, thus ensuring that the tubing is never in contact with the patient’s skin;
- Slowly and carefully attach the calf and upper straps over the patient’s foot for a snug fit. The straps should be applied securely to ensure that the protector cannot be easily removed from the patient’s lower leg. Avoid over-tightening the straps such that blood flow is restricted;
- Carefully place the foot in neutral or slight dorsiflexion and secure the foot positioning straps;
- At this stage, it may be safe to inspect that there is adequate space between the straps and the patient’s foot so as to ensure that they are not over-tightened.
- When fastening the straps, feel underneath to make sure the patient’s heel is floated. If not, undo the straps and re-apply.
PRECAUTIONS
- Never walk while wearing the heel protector on the foot;
- The heel protector is meant to be used on the heel only. Do not use it as an elbow protector;
- When incidents of pain, sweling, changes in sensation or unusual reactions develop, contact your health provider immediately.
