Product Information
AdvaCare is a CE, ISO and USFDA manufacturer of Closed Wound Drainage Systems.
StayGuard brand of closed wound drainage systems, including a wide range of sizes and features, is internationally distributed and recognized for reliable quality and exceptional value. With distribution across developed and developing markets alike, our products are uniquely positioned as the brand of choice for medical professionals.
AdvaCare’s closed wound drainage systems are specially designed to provide maximum means of prevention against any type of environmental contaminants from entering the wound or the area being drained. Manufactured from medical-grade silicone, which ensures further biocompatibility, flexibility and maximum comfort for the patient by delivering low tissue responses to the wound, which in turn greatly minimizes possible tissue adhesion during the healing process and when removing the drain.
Our wound drainage systems are designed to allow enough moisture to remain in tissues so as promote regeneration of tissue and lessen inflammation at the same time while removing excess material that may derail the healing process. Our closed wound drainage systems are ISO, CE and USFDA approved.

BENEFITS OF CLOSED WOUND DRAINAGE SYSTEM
- Offers maximum flexibility and great comfort to the patient by delivering low tissue responses to the wound;
- Features a patient port made with an internal anti-reflux valve to help prevent the backflow of fluid into the patient;
- The reservoir is equipped with a universal hanger for attachment to a bed or wheelchair for increased mobility;
- Equipped with a clear connecting tube that provides inspection and drainage visibility.
USAGE
- Slowly and carefully insert the drain into the wound and route it out with the help of the guide needle (trocar) from the surface near the wound. If done correctly, it should leave a perforated end in the wound;
- Carefully remove the guide needle (trocar) by using sterile scissors;
- Length markings help to place the drain in the correct position. Try to fix the drain at approximately 3 to 5cm from the point where it exits the wound;
- Connect the connecting tube to the bottle. Cut the graduated connector to the required drain size and then finally connect the drain.
- To change the bottle, close the slide clamp on the connecting tube and detach the tube.
PRECAUTIONS
- In the unfortunate circumstance where blood-stained drainage is noticed, immediately contact your healthcare provider as it may be an indicator of hemorrhage;
- To ensure patient comfort, ensure the drainage bottle is supported so that it does not pull;
- Always ensure that tubing is not kinked or under tension to ensure free and smooth flow of drainage fluid and prevent accidental dislodgement;
- Before shortening or removal of drains, always ensure the suction device is off and the suture is removed to prevent trauma to the tissues and pain to the patient.
