AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Levonorgestrel tablets.
Levonorgestrel tablets are emergency contraceptive pills intended to prevent pregnancy after a known or suspected contraceptive failure or unprotected intercourse. Levonorgestrel does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
Levonorgestrel tablets contain levonorgestrel, an active steroid ingredient. They prevent ovulation or fertilization by altering the tubal transport of sperm and/or ova. They inhibit implantation by altering the endometrium. However, they are not effective once implantation has begun.
To obtain optimal results, the first tablet should be taken as soon as possible within 72 hours of intercourse, and a second pill 12 hours later. The medication is more effective the sooner they are taken after sexual intercourse.
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of levonorgestrel tablets. Always consult a doctor or health care professional for medical advice before use. Common side effects include, but may not be limited to nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, irregular menstrual bleeding, dizziness, breast tenderness, vomiting, and diarrhea.
For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult your doctor. If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please call your doctor immediately.
Always consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking amoxicillin.
If your condition does not improve or becomes worse, then call your doctor.
Indications and Usage
Take Levonorgestrel orally. One tablet should be taken as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. If vomiting occurs within three hours of taking the tablet, another tablet should be taken immediately.
AdvaCare levonorgestrel tablet can be used at any time during the menstrual cycle unless menstrual bleeding is overdue. After using emergency contraception, it is recommended to use a local barrier method (e.g. condom, diaphragm, spermicide, cervical cap) until the next menstrual period starts.
Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how Levonorgestrel affects you.
Do NOT use levonorgestrel tablets if you are:
- Allergic to ingredients;
- Have any type of bleeding in your brain or the retina of your eyes.
Do not use levonorgestrel pills during pregnancy or breast feeding. Consult your doctor or health care professional before having/taking/using levonorgestrel pills.
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise. Usual dose for adults is 1 tablet within 72 hours of intercourse, and a second tablet 12 hours later.
Possible interactions include hepatic enzyme-inducing drugs such as anticonvulsants phenytoin, carbamazepine, and barbiturates. Consult with your doctor about any medications you are taking, before your treatment with levonorgestrel pills.
