Ketoconazole is in a class of antifungals called imidazoles. The medication works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection.
Ketoconazole is most often used to treat fungal infections that can spread to different parts of the body through the bloodstream such as yeast infections of the mouth, skin, urinary tract, and blood, and certain fungal infections that begin on the skin or in the lungs and can spread through the body.
Take ketoconazole 200mg tablets with a meal and store it in a dry place and avoid any moisture. Keep from freezing.

Contraindications
Ketoconazole 200mg tablets should be taken only when another effective antifungal therapy is not tolerated or unavailable and the potential benefits are considered to outweigh the potential risks.
Precautions
Do NOT use ketoconazole tablet if you:
- Are allergic to any ingredient in ketoconazole tablets;
- Have liver problem;
- Are taking cisapride, disopyramide, dofetilide, dronedarone, methadone, pimozide, quinidine or ranolazine.
Use of ketoconazole during pregnancy or breast feeding is not recommended. Ketoconazole can excrete into human milk but the effects in the nursing infant are unknown. Consult your doctor or health care professional before taking ketoconazole.
Driving or operating machinery should be avoided, as it may cause drowsiness. If you are sure about how you will react to it then it is fine to drive or operate machinery.
Administration and Dosage
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.
- Usual dose for adults is: at the beginning stage, take 200mg once a day. Your doctor may increase the dose if it is needed;
- Usual dose for children is: children from 2 years of age or older the dose is based on body weight and the dosage should be determined by the doctor. The dose is normally 3.3 to 6.6mg per day per kilogram of body weight.
Interactions
