Finasteride exacts its actions by decreasing the quantity of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. DHT causes the prostate to grow larger, decreased DHT’s quantity helps prevent prostate from enlarging.
Finasteride also increases hair growth and decrease hair loss on your head. The action of finasteride tablet doesn’t affect hair growth on other parts of the body.
Finasteride is eliminated in feces and this accounts for 56% of its excretion. It is also excreted in the urine, this account for only 39% of finasteride’s total excretion.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceutical medicines, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of finasteride tablets. Always consult a physician for medical advice before use. Common side effects may include: decreased sex drive, inability to keep
erection, ejaculation disorder, increase breast size, breast tenderness and skin rash.
Some serious side effects may include depression, nipple discharge, pain in your breasts, swelling of hips and face.

Indications and Usage
Finasteride is used to treat benign prostate hyperplasia. It is used to reduce the progression of an enlarged prostate.
Finasteride tablet is also indicated in the treatment of male pattern hairloss.
Precautions
Do not take finasteride if:
- You are a woman or a child;
- Your doctor suspect prostate cancer;
- You are allergic to finasteride tablet ingredients;
- You are a transgender
Administration and Dosage
Use of finasteride tablets during pregnancy or breastfeeding appears to be harmful. Consult your doctor or health care professional before taking finasteride tablets. Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed the advisable dosage.
The usual dose for adults is 5mg taken once per day. Finasteride tablet is not for use in children younger than 18years.
Interactions
Possible interactions with finasteride tablets include a host of other medications or supplements you may be taking.
