Budesonide Inhalation Suspension is a drug used to prevent symptoms associated with asthma. When used daily as a maintenance treatment, it helps decrease the frequency and intensity of asthma attacks. It should be noted that this medication is not a rescue inhaler and will not relieve an active asthma attack.

Budesonide may be prescribed with other medications, such as bronchodilators.

Budesonide is classified as a corticosteroid. It works by reducing and preventing inflammation within the airways.

What is Budesonide used for?

It is used to prevent asthma attacks and symptoms like chest tightness, difficulty breathing, wheezing, and coughing.

How is Budesonide Inhalation Suspension used?

This medicine has been manufactured as a liquid that has been packaged in an ampoule. It is intended to be inhaled and breathed into the lungs using a nebulizer device. It typically takes 24-48 hours before this medicine begins to work, and the full effects of the drug are typically not achieved for 2-6 weeks.

When using this product with a nebulizer, thoroughly read the device's instructions.

What dose should be given?

It is typically inhaled twice a day.

As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Budesonide Inhalation Suspension.

Do NOT use Budesonide Inhalation Suspension if: • You are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

This medicine should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if the benefits outweigh the risks. Consult a doctor or healthcare professional before treatment.

Concurrent treatment with certain medications is not recommended, including desmopressin, levoketoconazole or the rotavirus vaccine (live). Some other drugs known to interact include certain antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin), NSAIDs (diclofenac, etodolac), antifungals (ketoconazole), and more. Budesonide is also known to interact with grapefruit.

Steroids may affect the growth rate in children, but there is not enough information to determine the exact effect on their final height.

The long-term usage of steroids may cause glaucoma or cataracts in some patients. It also may increase the risk of developing osteoporosis.
