Azelastine HCL (hydrochloride) and fluticasone propionate is a nasal spray that treats allergy-related nasal inflammation.
Azelastine is an antihistamine that works by blocking certain natural substances called histamines that are responsible for allergic symptoms.
Fluticasone belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It works by reducing swelling (inflammation) in the nasal passages.
Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceutical medicine, some unwanted effects can occur from the use azelastine HCL and fluticasone propionate nasal spray. Always consult a physician for medical advice before use.
Common side effects may include: sleepiness or drowsiness, slow wound healing, fungal infections of the nose and throat, eye problems such as glaucoma or cataracts, adrenal insufficiency, slow or delayed growth in children and nasal problems.

Indications and Usage
Azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate nasal spray is used to relieve seasonal allergy symptoms of the nose such as stuffy/runny nose, itching, sneezing, and post-nasal drip.
Azelastine HCL and fluticasone propionate nasal spray is for nasal use only.
Precautions
Do not take azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients;
- You have a adrenal insufficiency;
- You have serious eye problems or cataract.
It is unknown if azelastine HCL and fluticasone propionate nasal spray is excreted in breast milk. Consult your doctor or health care professional before inhaling the nasal spray in pregnant or nursing mothers.
Administration and Dosage
Refer to your doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. The recommended dose to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis is 1 spray in each nostril twice daily.
Interactions
Consult with your doctor about medications you are taking or existing medical conditions you have before your treatment with azelastine hyrdrocloride and fluticasone propionate nasal spray.
Fluticasone propionate is metabolized or broken down by the CYP3A4 enzymes in the liver. Strong inhibitors of CYP3A4 enzymes such as ritonavir, ketoconazole, fluconazole, and itraconazole may increase its blood levels and increase the risk of side effects. This spray should not be used with ritonavir or medicines containing ritonavir.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose include drowsiness or sleepiness. These symptoms have to be reported to the medical health professional.
