        Product Information

        General Information:
AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Amlodipine + Atenolol tablets.

Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist which inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into the cardiac muscles and vascular smooth muscles. Amlodipine is a peripheral vasodilator, and it acts more on the smooth muscles to reduce peripheral vascular resistance, which will invariably reduce blood pressure.

Atenolol is a potent cardio-selective beta-blocker. It reduces blood pressure by lowering cardiac output. Atenolol also causes a reduction in myocardial oxygen demand due to its negative ionotropic and negative chronotropic effect.

A significant synergism exists when amlodipine is merged with atenolol.

Combination of Amlodipine + Atenolol results in additive antihypertensive action.

Amlodipine is primarily excreted in urine while atenolol is excreted unchanged in the urine; the remainder is eliminated in feces.

        Side Effects:
As with all pharmaceutical medicine, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of amlodipine + atenolol tablets.

Common side effects may include cold hands and feet, diarrhea, headache, leg pain, blood pressure lower than usual, impotence, shortness of breath, sleepiness, palpitation, flushing, and tiredness.
